First time borrowing a book. CAIS book reflection.

Image
First time borrowing a book from CAIS was a unique experience. Took me awhile to decide which book to borrow.  Spent 5mins on this thing . Then it hit me.  Book is called Construction Management by Daniel W. Halpin. Publish in the year 2006 and is the 3rd ever edition of this book. The book touches on Management techniques in construction. Where sub topics like handling labor workers and the clients are talk about. The book focuses mainly on Law and Legislation in the United States. I gave me hard time cause I had little knowledge in Law, in the end it also gave me new wrinkles on my forehead by grunting too much.

Meet Up with CAIS Staff in Dr Adibah Class

Image
CAIS staff giving us lecture One of the most important things I remember from this meet up is the emphasize of the CAIS website. To access www.cais.unimas.my Where we are able to obtain  Online databases, ebooks, ejournals and etc.. The website allows us to easily access these information before going to CAIS. Another major part of the lecture is the ISS request. Which is about borrowing books between libraries around the world. With a added cost I might add. Besides that, is the CAIS open day. Where they promote CAIS annually. During CAIS open day there is a prize given towards the person with the most borrowed book within the year. Directory was given where the reference desk is located at Level G and Level 1. Also a know how on how to get a discussion room to obtain more privacy. Finally, discipline was touched on where attire and manners are a strict factor upon entering the library.

Reflection of Conservation of Tecoma Project

Image
On the 20th November 2019, we conducted the Tacoma Project located at our faculty's parking lot. I am the Secretary of this project whereby I am responsible in taking care of all the financial needs of the program, The purpose of the program is to rehabilitate these Tacoma trees so that in the future we would see it bloom. We started the day with at 8am accompanied with some simple work out. Then we went out and met our selected trees. Encik Jamil Bin Razaimi was there to supervise and teach us on how to manage our trees. The trees were cut, old branches were taken, soil was put on and fertilizers was put. Finally we assembled our tagging and hope that with proper discipline and management we would be able to see these trees bloom a year from now. From this program I learnt that we must always think of preserving nature for the generations to come. It was also the first time I was a Treasurer and I learnt many things along the way. Examples are that safekeeping...

Mental Health Awareness Reflection

Image
A mental health seminar was held to help raise awareness among students. Throughout the seminar various kinds of mental heath was touched on. Among are Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Eating disorder, PTSD and many more. For me there is this ongoing stigma that whenever mental health is touch it always goes towards Depression. Making it the face of mental health issue. This bothers me because it ignores the other side of the fence where people with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD are ignored. Leaving them with no window of opportunity to speak up. With all this being said, the state of my mental health I feel is nothing to worry about cause I handle my stress through sports and music. I will almost never lets these lingering thoughts stay in my head as I always live in the moment. Overall, I feel that the seminar is quite useful as it teaches us to meditate and spread the awareness on mental health.

Meet Up With My Academic Advisor.

Image
23-10-2019 Was my first ever meet up with my Academic Advisor, Dr Farah binti Zaini.  It was a collective meeting with all the other eight first year mentee. She introduced herself to us and proceed to tell us about the purposes of having this Mentor-Mentee system in UNIMAS. The most important purpose is to allow us to take our final exam. But this is done with a process, which are 1) cross checking our attendance. Only those with 80% attendance or higher is allowed to take the final exam. 2) allowing us to print our exam slip. With this being said, Dr Farah tells us about the occurring trend of first semester, first year students which is obtaining low results. The major cause of the trend is time management as we first year's are filled with so much passion and enthusiasm that our academic gets neglected. Dr Farah is a working officer at The Cempaka Dorm and stresses on the importance of staying at the hostel as a first year. It is compulsory for every 1st year to ...
